Natalia Villanueva Linares
murmurs
Miniature glass jars that hold a murmur—an ephemeral fragment of sound captured through an intimate process.
The murmur was first whispered into ink, transforming voice into liquid memory. That ink was then poured onto dusted paper, allowing the fleeting nature of sound to leave a physical trace. The jar becomes a vessel not just for containment, but for the preservation of something once imperceptible—an invisible moment made tangible.
In line with Natalia Villanueva Linares’ practice of animating everyday objects with profound poetic resonance, this miniature jar becomes a monument to the immeasurable. It reflects her notion of "sensitive mathematics," where the soft whisper of a murmur—counted, told, and transformed—echoes through ink and dust. The use of worn, humble materials and an invisible gesture speaks to her philosophy of distribution through destruction, and generosity through material. The jar, though small, participates in the continuity between the immense and the minute, radiating with quiet power, and inviting us to listen more closely to the stories embedded in matter itself.
